Last week, the House of Representatives passed a bill, calling it a Energy Bill. What it really is, Cap and Trade. Now it's in the Senate and if it passes, Obama will sign it into law.
In a nutshell, company's pay the government a fee for being allowed to pollute (something that happens in everything we do from driving to making jeans). The company by the "credits", if they pollute less, they can sell the "credits" to other companies so that they can pollute more. It all just depends on how good business is doing. So the companies come out of pocket first, and then pass on the costs to the CONSUMER. Obama himself said that utility bills would "necessarily skyrocket" under a Cap and Trade system. I found this video that spells in out a little:

Plus this link, that show's what will happen to your individual living costs:

Fill in the blanks and see what your estimated costs of living increase will be. For me, it looks to be about $1,300 a year. And the government get's every dime of it. If passed, this will be the highest tax increase in the history of America. Everything you buy will become more expensive. The intended result is that American's will pare down their standard of living to save money but consuming less.
Just one thing. What do you supposse will happen to the economy when consumers buy less goods and services? It's not hard to figure out, it's going on right now. In June 467,000 Americans lost their jobs.
Call or e-mail your Senator about Cap and Trade legislation and tell them what you think about it. Be respectful or you will be ignored.
