New HBO mini series, sort of like the Band of Brothers mini series that follows Marines as they do the island hopping campaign during World War 2. The story is following the experiences of Sergeant Basilone and Lt. Colonel "Chesty" Puller.
I watched the first episode and it doesn't hold back on showing the brutality of war.
Anyone else following it?

Hell yea Hog, I been waiting on this one. The 1st episode didn't let me down. I think this should be a great series to follow. They spent $212 million making this and only spent a little over $100 Million on Band of Brothers.

Yeah, this looks great, but I don't get HBO anymore. I'll have to wait for the dvds.

Thus far its a excellent series with a great storyline and lots of action. I just wish it wasn't a mini series. This definetly fills the gap that band of brothers left when the season ended.

the third episode comes on tonight, so i doubt it has been released yet.
I loved the Jap newspaper article that Gen Puller read to the Marines in episode 2.
"The Americans on this island are not ordinary troops, but Marines, a special force recruited from jails and insane assylums for blood lust."

If you have HBO on demand or go to the HBO channel that shows everything they are playing for that month, you can pull up and watch it whenever you want.
Band of Brothers is still on that channel for me, can pull it up at anytime.

Hog did you see it last night? I have heard of John Basilone and remembered him from my time in the Corps. Who is Bob Lackey? They are focusing much of the show on him, I just wanna know his significance to the war.
