Anyone have any insight on this? Just happened like 10 minutes ago.
I downloaded and installed the new software update and now my PS3 will not turn on!!! I have tried everything - holding the power "button" for 15 seconds to force a master reset, completely disconnecting/reapplying power, using different power cords...just about anything you can think of.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Really dont want to go through the hassle of exchanging it at BestBuy - besides, what happens to all of my saved game files and data? I know I can just download the various DLC from PSN again, but DAMN!

HELP!

did it brick (power seems to be on but it's just a black screen), or will it not turn on at all as in power lights won't light up etc?

It's still just a freaking paper-weight.

After the update finished installing and did it's auto-restart, it turned off just fine. But when it was supposed to restart the red (power avail) led was just blinking at me - I left it that way for 30 minutes before I completely removed all power. Now it will not power up, no leds light up...completely dead.

Any ideas on how to retrieve the data on the hdd?

Finally back up and running at full speed!
Thanks to GuerillaWarrior for recovering all of my saved data and game files.

I should be back on later tonight, and every day from here on out. Not that you missed me

I will filling out exactly how this was accomplished, and will create a desktop SOP for this situation for distro to the CLAN as soon as I have all of the info on how it was done.

It appears that it was a compound hardware failure - not software. Motherboard and power supply, to the tune of $50 greenbacks.
